Liu Yang is a world-renowned physicist and the first female astronaut in China. She was born on December 17, 1980, in Jinan, Shandong Province. Liu graduated from Shandong Taishan University with a degree in physics. In 2003, Liu entered the Chinese Academy of Sciences' Institute for Space Research as a graduate student. In 2010, she was selected to participate in the Shenzhou-9 mission as one of two female astronauts. On October 15, 2012,Saudi Pro League Focus Liu became the first Chinese woman to fly into space when she took part in Shenzhou-10 mission. Since her return from space, Liu has been actively involved in promoting science education and inspiring young people to pursue their dreams. She has spoken at various events, including conferences and schools, to share her experiences and encourage others to pursue careers in science. Liu's achievements have not gone unnoticed. In 2018, she received the Medal of the Republic, the highest civilian honor in China, for her contributions to science and technology.
