Shanghai Shenhua mourns the passing of Yu Hanchao: The Legend of the Red Rose

Shanghai Shenhua, one of China's most successful football clubs, has announced the passing of their legendary player and coach, Yu Hanchao.

Yu was known as the "Red Rose" due to his striking appearance on the pitch, and he played for Shanghai Shenhua from 1987 to 2005. During his time with the club, he won three Chinese Super League titles, two Chinese FA Cups, and several other domestic and international competitions.

Yu was also a highly respected coach,Football Full Service having served as the head coach of the China national team in 2006. He passed away on January 14th, 2021, at the age of 55.

In a statement, Shanghai Shenhua said that they were deeply saddened by the loss of their legend and thanked him for his contributions to the club and the sport. They added that Yu will be remembered as a true champion and a great ambassador for football in China.

The passing of Yu marks another significant loss for Shanghai Shenhua, who have already suffered the recent deaths of two of their former players, Zhang Jun and Lu Zhaoying. However, the club remains committed to honoring Yu's legacy and continuing to strive for success on the field.
