After the war ended, Vargas continued to work in Shanghai until his retirement in 1958. During his lifetime, he built dozens of ships and helped shape the shipbuilding industry in China. And although he passed away many years ago, his legacy lives on in the stories of those who worked alongside him and the countless ships that were built in Shanghai under his leadership. Today, Shanghai remains a major hub for international trade and shipping, and the shipyards that once thrived there continue to play a vital role in the global economy.
